Get to know the people of Delight Yoga

Angela Jamison

Angela is the founder and director of Ashtanga Yoga Ann Arbor in Michigan, USA. She has been practicing Astanga yoga since 2000, and is certified by her teacher R. Sharath Jois of Mysore.
 

Angela learned to teach yoga through a traditional apprenticeship with Dominic Corigliano in 2006-2007. Since 2013, she has mentored a dozen Mysore teachers according to this same model, which is invitation-only and free. Delight Yoga Mysore teacher Sasha Van Aalst completed apprenticeship with Angela in Michigan in 2017.

Angela’s primary interest in yoga is as toolset for exploring the nature of consciousness. She has kept a disciplined practice of meditation for 15 years. An openminded person dedicated to learning, she has academic degrees in Philosophy, History, Communication and Sociology. As an academic, she researched and published in the areas of cultural and economic sociology as well as communications media and global comparative history. She draws on this training in directing the yoga school, which over the past 10 years has become a thriving participatory grassroots organisation.

Angela is from rural Montana, where she grew up on a ranch in a utopian community. She is close with her family, who still live in Montana. She writes creatively in venues such as www.insideowl.com.

The Mind Retreat (100-Hour training)

With Satya Katiza & Kevin Sahaj

Starting on 14 August 2021

A unique opportunity to dive within the Infinite Universe of the Mind: a 10 day silent retreat, by Satya Katiza and Kevin Sahaj at D'Alijo Yoga Retreat Centre in Portugal. We will investigate the Mind as true scientists within our own laboratory. The philosophical ground of practice will be based on non-dual practices, Buddhism, and Tantra. It can be followed individually or in combination with the Advanced Teacher Training.
