Anouk Neijsen

Astanga Led

Anouk started her yoga path in 2008. While working in a highly stressful environment as a fashion buyer, she turned to yoga to find peace of mind. After trying several styles of yoga she was first introduced to Astanga yoga in 2010, while on a yoga retreat in Italy. It was love at first sight. This physically challenging practice combined with a strong focus on the breath gave her a tool to connect with herself in ways she had never experienced before. Soon afterwards she left her job and went to Thailand where she met Paul Dallaghan who introduced her to the mysore style of practice and to pranayama. Upon return in Amsterdam she started a daily mysore practice with Claudia Pradella and Madina Tanekeyeva at Astanga yoga school Amsterdam. This became the foundation for her life.

Out of a hunger to learn more about yogic philosophy and lifestyle and a desire to deepen her practice she joined the 200 hrs Astanga yoga intensive training with Claudia Pradella and Janneke Verburg in 2012. This training marked the beginning of many changes in her life. She became very interested in detoxing and plant-based nutrition and decided to deepen her knowledge by first studying Holistic nutrition at Civas and later on Raw food cuisine at Matthew Kenney culinary in LA.

In 2012 she was also introduced to Lino Miele with whom she immediately felt a strong connection because of his personal approach, Italian temperament and love for Astanga yoga as it was taught traditionally by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. She started following him in his workshops and retreats in Italy and India. To this day he still is her main teacher and a great source of inspiration both for her practice and teaching.

Astanga yoga helps Anouk to daily connect and stay truthful to herself but also to face her fears, challenge herself and open up to the unknown. In her classes these qualities are very important and she wishes to inspire her students in this way to follow their own path.
