Dana Marshall

YinMeditation,  Mindfulness

Dana Marshall (Brooklyn, New York 1962) teaches Mindfulness and Yin Yoga. Dana is known for her heartfelt way of teaching and applies it to daily life. She creates an atmosphere of warmth and kindness in her classes which encourages students to relax into their bodies and minds.  The purpose of Mindfulness is to train the mind to be open and attentive to all that arises. The purpose of Yin Yoga is to engender pliancy in the joints which creates more fluidity in movement and more ease and comfort in stillness.

Dana came in contact with Meditation at seventeen years old through personal contact with the meditation master Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche the founder of Shambhala. Since then she has been on the Shambhala Buddhist Path of the Warrior and is a devoted student of the current lineage holder Sakyong Mihpam Rinpoche.

She made a connection with Sarah Powers in 2003 and has been inspired by her teachings ever since. Currently, she is very inspired by Anat Geiger. For ten years Dana practised with Shirley Woods from Inner Space who introduced her to the quiet and powerful practice of Vijnana Yoga.

My intention as a teacher is to remind students of their inherent wakefulness and unconditional confidence.  - Dana Marshall

Over the years she completed: a 200 hour Vinyasa yoga teacher’s training at Yoga Moves (2003) with Hilary Brown and Katiza Satya, a 100 hour Yin Yoga and Anatomy teacher’s training with Paul Grilley (2015) and a 500 hour Insight Yoga teacher’s training with Sarah Powers (2010 - 2017).

Dana is a visual artist and has been weaving together like strands of DNA the path of warrior-ship with the path of art for over thirty years. To see her photographic art visit her website: Dana Marshall.
