Delight Yoga Staff - Froukje den Nijs

Froukje den Nijs

HathaVinyasa

During Froukje's first 200-hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training in India, her teacher said, “Why do you spend all this time in your head, when you have a beautiful home in your heart”? This is still one of her favourite reminders and also describes what yoga is all about. When she felt quite disconnected, yoga helped her to reconnect. Her path started at Delight Yoga, with a 50-hour Pre-Teacher Training which was soon followed by a journey to India.  While deepening her practice through a 200-hour Vinyasa Teacher Training back in Amsterdam, her biggest lesson was learned. A couple days before the training, her back was completely locked. When talking to the teacher about this, she was told that this is actually a great way to start the training. She would now have to really listen to her body, because ,"Yoga must be adjusted to your body and not the other way around."  This transformed her practice and is now also the most important thing she wants to share in her classes. Like Vanda Scaravelli describes beautifully, "Yoga must not be practised to control the body. It is the opposite. It must bring freedom to the body, all the freedom it needs." As the yoga teachings available are endless, Froukje went back to India in 2019 to complete a 100-hour Yin & Nidra Training followed by Vipassana in Java. In May 2020, she will continue with a Nidra Immersion with Kamini Desai and a Women's Health Training in October.
