Temporary closure of Nieuwe Achtergracht

by Delight Yoga, 18-Jun-2019

Dear student,

We have important news about our studio at the Nieuwe Achtergracht that we want to share with you. We recently received word from our landlord that the foundation of our studio's building needs to be renovated. This means that major construction work will happen and that our studio at the Nieuwe Achtergracht needs to close its doors for a period of around four months.

Even though we fully understand the impact of this for you, our teachers and our own team, developments like this are outside of our circle of influence. It is now up to us to  handle this situation in the best way possible, and we are now actually starting to see the opportunities that this situation might provide for everyone. We are convinced that in the long run, we can turn this into something positive by giving the space a much needed refresh so we can enjoy our studio for years to come.

What is the plan?
At this point, it appears that the renovation will start on August 19th of this year and will continue towards the end of the year. We hope to re-open the refreshed studio in the new year again. During the closure of the studio, we wish to open up a temporary studio in a location near the Nieuwe Achtergracht, so we can offer our students a place to practice and our teachers a place to teach. It might be that this temporary space will have a different look and feel than you are used to, but what will remain unchanged is the quality of the teachers and the quality of the classes.

Please help us find a temporary space
We are currently doing all we can to find a suitable space, and we have a few promising leads, but why not harness the power of the Delight Yoga Community to find a solution too? If you happen to know a space that might be suitable to offer yoga classes in Amsterdam Oost (should be an open space of around 200m2), please let us know by contacting us through quinten@delightyoga.nl

What does this mean for you?
We fully understand that the renovation of your go-to studio can be an inconvenience for you. However, we will do our best to keep the impact of this as small as possible by trying to find an alternative space in the neighbourhood so you can keep practicing somewhere close by. It is our intention to keep as much of the regular schedule intact at a temporary alternative location. Of course you are more than welcome in our other three studios in Amsterdam.

We have also launched a Frequently Asked Question page with more details about how we will deal with active products and memberships during the closure of the studio.

We will let you know if we have news
If we have updates about the plans or we know more about the alternative location we will of course inform you as soon as possible. So keep an eye on your inbox for updates from us.

For now, let's remain open to change:

“Change is not something that we should fear. Rather, it is something that we should welcome. For without change, nothing in this world would ever grow or blossom, and no one in this world would ever move forward to become the person they’re meant to be.”
-- B.K.S Iyengar

Always standing by for questions you might have right now.
