In these times we want to share beauty, something positive to give back to the brave and the kind.
Walking past our studio on De Clercqstraat, you may have noticed posters hanging in its windows. These are part of an open-air art exhibition created by Martin Sweers. Read more about the inspiration behind this project in his own words:
"Currently, we're asked to work and stay at home as much as possible. Restaurants, museums, cinemas, and gyms are closed, but going for a walk remains a part of a healthy lifestyle.
Walking through our city isn't as appealing as it normally is with all the temporarily closed businesses the idea behind this initiative is to give everybody something nice to look at in dark times instead of sad empty shops. Together with local small entrepreneurs, Studio Sweers has created a free outdoor art exhibit. We're using their shop windows to showcase the art of Studio Sweers. In this way, we're helping to get the art message across during these difficult times. And simultaneously bringing a nice surprise to people of Amsterdam who are taking a walk.
This is a non-profit project, all the prints are privately funded. If the artist makes a sale based on this project, he will donate 10% of the profit to support other artists in need."
