Mysore Program Celebrates Its 10th Anniversary
by Delight Yoga
On 20 June 2010, the Astanga Yoga School Amsterdam opened its doors as the very first dedicated Astanga Yoga shala in the Netherlands dedicated to spreading the Astanga teaching in its traditional format - Mysore self-practice. 10 years later, we want to remember and celebrate that day in the same way – with a 108 Sun Salutation practice together! Unfortunately, we cannot be together in the shala at De Clercqstraat, but we can still gather virtually on Zoom to celebrate our practice together.
The 108 Sun Salutations is a very auspicious practice, which is often done to celebrate the Summer Solstice (21 June), the sun and its life-giving energy. It is certainly a ‘Tapas’ practice that requires strong willpower. It is an opportunity to uplift and reinvigorate your yoga practice. But primarily this practice is a prayer in movement.
Create an intention, a dedication, or a prayer for healing and wellbeing. It is the intention behind the action that infuses the practice with auspiciousness. Take it one breath at the time, as an effortful act of surrender towards a higher cause, beyond our individual concerns. And let’s celebrate our practice and this amazing community!
