Special Classes: November 2017
by Delight Yoga, 31-Oct-2017
Yoga has so many more qualities than just the physical practice on the mat (asana). You may have experienced some magic during a class, leaving energized and relaxed and with a feeling of more spaciousness. But in fact, this magical feeling can stay with you when you take the practice with you off the mat. The key is to apply yoga into our daily lives and to experience the present Now in all little things we do. This might seem difficult in the beginning, but no worries, take it slow - step by step - this can be everyone's reality.
To inspire you to take yoga off the mat and support you in this yoga journey, we offer Special Classes. All special classes can be booked through the regular schedule which means they can be done with your current membership or card, or by a Delight Guest (single class payment).
Below you find the special classes for the coming month.
Come and join the beauty of life through dance, chanting, meditation and more!
In Amsterdam this November
For anyone interested in gaining an embodied experience and deeper understanding of themselves, others and the world. We will explore together—through contemplative meditation—our thoughts, beliefs and relationship to what we simply call ‘me’ and most importantly we will enquire if and how this ‘me’ contributes to our happiness. These contemplations are grounded in authentic Buddhist philosophy and shared in an experimental, open, accessible, down to earth, and fun way.

Dance meditation is a form of active meditation which offers the possibility to connect to what lives inside of yourself. It is an exercise in becoming silent and witnessing yourself, the thoughts, emotions, experiences, of everything inside you. The movement allows you to think less and experience more and surrender to the wisdom of the body. In a dance meditation, the dancer will go on a journey, sometimes following the movements of the body and sometimes experiencing the effect of specific movements. Sometimes through different musical rhythms, sometimes dancing to the sound of silence.
Bookable through the regular schedule from October 4th

Slow Down & Restore
With Erica Jago
Weteringschans | 17 November, 2017 | 20:00 - 21:30
The root chakra is a beautiful teacher in how to parent ourselves. With a focus on slowing down and staying close to the earth, we will begin to sense our own needs in these moments of stillness. To care for ourselves when we need rest and support is the first step in becoming a healthy adult. In this deeply restorative practice, stability will come from longer held postures using blocks and bolsters to make necessary adjustments within for trust to soften in. This practice will give us a direct experience of what it feels like to self love.

Dance with Life: A threefold embodied exploration
With Lotte Ritzer
De Clercqstraat | 24 November, 2017 | 20:00 – 21:30
Even under the best of circumstances, life is challenging. It is constantly changing, always uncertain and mostly beyond our control. Life will move you with the rhythm and in the direction of its own unfolding, regardless of your best intentions. The best we can do is to learn how to flow along with it with grace.
In this special class, we’ll go into a greater exploration of the ‘cosmic dance’. Using embodiment practices and the tantric principles of Masculine and Feminine as an important base.
Finding a way to be at ease with the dance itself is a crucial skill in finding freedom and meaning in life. If life is going to dance with you, then what kind of dance partner do you wish to be?
