Maggie Bijl

Maggie Bijl was born on Earth Day (April 22nd 1980) in the midwestern United States. She is a true Taurus: reliable, practical, ambitious and fiercely loyal. 

Maggie’s creative nature and fearless spirit are what lured her into traveling the globe and living in Maui, Hawaii for nearly 15 years. Maggie had an ‘awaking’ to the delicacy of life (after her mother was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer). Maggie began practicing yoga around the age of 20 years old, although this was not the first time she was introduced to yoga; and began living a more consciously awakened lifestyle. Maggie met a Professional Windsurfer (from the Netherlands) and soon they married on Maui surrounded by all their family and friends. Maggie's journey into the yoga/birth world began after the birth of her own baby in 2009. She experienced an incredibly powerful all natural homebirth with the love and support of her husband, a midwife, and a Doula. This transformation from maiden to mother literally changed her life’s path. Maggie received her certification in Prenatal Yoga having realized the undeniable importance of being an active participant verses a passive bystander in her own pregnancy + birth empowering women to trust and tap into their own inner strength and wisdom. Maggie is also a trained Birth Doula, supporting + educating women (and their partners) in a holistic pregnancy and birth. Knowing the importance of creating a safe, calming and nurturing environment for expectant mothers, in need of sisterhood + connection, Maggie became a certified Sacred Pregnancy Instructor having realized the undeniable importance of creating sacred space + community during pregnancy, birth, and beyond. After the birth of her 2nd baby, she continued teaching yoga and became passionate about uniting mother and baby though use of traditional yoga practices such as Pranayama (breath), meditation, visualizations and mantras (healing sounds) while incorporating mindful techniques she learned as a Doula. Maggie is very enthusiastic and passionate about learning as well as continuing her education and path of growth and of service… She is also trained by Nicki Doane + Eddie Modestini (Maya Yoga, Maui Hawaii) Nadia Toraman (Maui Yoga Shala, Maui Hawaii) and trained by Sadie Nardini (Core Strength Vinyasa). Maggie has recently completed a 50 Teacher Training with Sri Vijay Gopala from Yoga Gita in Leiden, Netherlands and is currently immersed in another 200 hour Vinyasa Teacher Training at Yoga Moves in Utrecht, Netherlands. The journey is endless for this passionate and driven spirit. 


Maggie’s main intention is to encourage ‘students’ to listen to their own bodies, to explore and take up space, and to find their own individual self-expression by living truly, madly and deeply with authenticity both on and off the mat.

Maggie, a wife and mother of two, has been a practitioner of yoga for over 15 years with experience in Hatha, Bikram, Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow, Hot Yoga, Yin/Yang Yoga Yoga Barre and Prenatal & Postnatal yoga. She’s a certified Prenatal Yoga Teacher through Blooma (www.blooma.com) and trained in Core Strength Vinyasa created by Sadie Nardini (www.sadienardini.com). She’s a trained, certified and experienced Birth Doula as well as a Sacred Pregnancy Instructor and Sacred Postpartum ‘Mother Roaster’ and a member of the Scared Living Movement community (www.sacredlivingmovement.com)
