Reopening

As of the 5th of June, Delight Yoga in Amsterdam and  Den Haag are back open for led classes. Our schedule will now feature studio classes as well as outdoor classes. We will also continue to offer online classes. You can now book your class 14 days in advance through our schedule. 

We are delighted to announce that all workshops will continue as of the 5th of June. If you have booked a workshop with us, you will receive an update with all necessary information as soon as possible.

Covid-19

Please stay home if you have any symptoms of COVID19.
Stay home if you have any of the following symptoms:⁠ cold symptoms, coughing, shortness of breath, elevated temperature or fever, or the sudden loss of taste and smell.⁠ 

Bring your own blanket + eye pillow

We provide mats and props but ask our students to bring their own blankets and eye pillows. For Restorative classes, please bring two of your own blankets.

Bring your own (thermos) drinking bottle
We also ask students to bring their own (thermos) drinking bottle, as we can't provide glasses at the moment. We provide tea and water for you to fill up your drinking bottle in all our studios.

Keep 1.5-meter distance
Keep a safe and respectful distance from other students, teachers, and hosts. This starts when you walk in the door to check in. When you enter the studio, follow the marks on the floor, and use the designated spots in the shala to place your mat. Try to stay on your mat during the class and respect each other space when entering and leaving the shala.

Use the hand sanitiser / wash your hands⁠
There is hand sanitiser available in all studios. Please make sure to use the hand sanitiser when you walk in and please wash your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds after you’ve used the bathroom.⁠

Arrive / leave within 10 minutes
Arrive 10 minutes before the class starts at the earliest, and please leave within 10 minutes after your class ends so we can avoid having too many people in the studio. You can take tea to go, so bring your thermos. 

Check in with the host / teacher before class
When you arrive at the studio, you will still check in at the desk with the host (or teacher) like you’re used to, but we will not be using coins. Please share injuries, pregnancy, and/or your boundaries with the teacher or hosts before the class starts.

Using the space
Shoes, bags, and phones are not allowed in the yoga shala. We do not have lockers but you can leave your belongings in the dressing rooms under the supervision of the host. 

Adjustments
During your practice, teachers will walk around through the shala to give you verbal adjustments. The teachers will also give you the chance to indicate if you do not prefer them to come close to you. There will be NO (hands-on) physical adjustments at Led classes. Teachers of Mysore classes are adjusting hands-on by using clean towels brought by students themselves.

Chanting
We are happy that the Dutch government now allows singing inside and outside. This means that we are also allowed to teach pranayama and chanting again, and while we can’t wait to practice healing together again, we will take a two-week adjustment period to allow everyone to become reaccustomed to this. As of 10 July, our teachers can include pranayama and chanting in their classes if they choose to. In the meantime, feel free to visit our Hatha & Pranayama classes.

Take care
Be patient and be mindful with yourself, your body, and mind. Don’t push yourself when going into postures. Be respectful and always listen to your body.

Canceling your class
Can’t make it to class? Please always cancel your booking, and try to do so at least 6 hours before the class starts. Just log in to My Delight and click cancel in your booked classes.

As we have very limited space we need to do our utmost with the limited mats. Therefore, we ask you to please be very mindful of your registrations and cancellations. 

Please, reserve your class beforehand as there will be no walk-in spots available.⁠ Bookings are open 8 days in advance for all classes and can be made through the regular schedule.

​When a class is fully booked, you can put yourself on the waiting list. Whenever a spot opens up, everybody on the waiting list will receive an e-mail. First come, first serve.

Want to cancel? Please always cancel your booking, and try to do so at least 6 hours prior to the class so that somebody else can get your spot.  

With our limited capacity, we want to make sure as many people get the chance to practice with us again.⁠

We now have a waiting list option so you don't miss out on your favourite class. When a class is fully booked, you can put yourself on the waiting list. Whenever a spot opens up, everybody on the waiting list will receive an e-mail. First come, first serve.

As we have to deal with a limited number of mats in class, we decided to programme a new schedule with studio classes, outdoor classes and online classes. The online classes can be re-watched for 7 days after being live-streamed. This could give all our students the opportunity to book and attend classes at all times. We also changed the schedule to make sure there is more time between the classes to minimize the total amount of people in the studio at the same time. 

We always loved providing you with everything you need for your yoga practice. To ensure the highest level of hygiene we ask you to bring the following for the time being:

While we love connecting with you in person, we want to make sure to stay safe and minimize the number of people in the studio. We ask that you do not stay longer than necessary after your class ends. Thank you for your understanding! 

We've created a schedule of live-streamed online yoga classes, so you can also continue your yoga practice with your favourite Delight Yoga teachers at home. We decided that the online classes are here to stay since we received so many positive reactions about the classes.

Please note that Online yoga classes on Zoom can NOT be viewed after they have been live-streamed due to privacy reasons.

We now also offer outdoor yoga classes in Amsterdam and Den Haag. You can book your class through the regular schedule.

About Delight Online

Delight Online is an online yoga platform with daily Livestreams, and an extensive on-demand library and online journeys with yoga, meditation and mindfulness classes of expert teachers. - If you are practising Mysore your best option is the Monthly Mysore Membership as this will give you access to our Mysore Program.

Yes, you can book for more persons than one, but you will need to create a separate account for them. All bookings are personal, so we need an account per student that comes to class or a workshop.

Just book with you own account first, and then log out of the website to create a new account and do the second booking.

About my physique

To avoid poor digestion, it’s highly recommended not to eat 2 hours prior to yoga practice. If you are very hungry, have something light, such as a fruit. As a rule: never practice yoga if you are too hungry, or too full. It’s also highly recommended to not drink within 30 minutes before, or during yoga practice. Furthermore it’s recommended to wait 30-45 before eating and drinking after yoga, to allow your mind and body to assimilate relaxation or shavasana.

If you can, have a refreshing shower before yoga, or wash your hands, feet and face. It’s not advisable to smoke before yoga. After practice, leave the sweat on your body so that the skin can re-absorb the eliminated hormones and minerals.

Respect the cycle of the body, and take it easy during your period. During the first days of menstruation avoid intense practice and especially inverse postures such as head- and shoulder stand. Also avoid intense belly movements such as in navasana (the boat) as well as strong backward bends and twists. Let the teacher know, and you will be given adapted postures.

Please let the teacher know if you have any injuries, pains or if you have had surgery that may be relevant to yoga practice. This could be anything: knee pain, back problems, high blood pressure or other complaints.

We recommend our students not do yoga in the first trimester, and just to attend the Prenatal classes after the 3rd month. We give pregnancy yoga weekly, you can find them on our regular schedule.

Before entering the class, please always tell the instructor that you are pregnant or have just given birth, so that he/she can show you custom poses where needed.

Remember that it is your yoga practice and your body. Be patient and be mindful. Differentiate between ambition and enthusiasm. Meet your ambitions with calmness, curiosity and observation. Don’t push yourself too hard when pressing your body into postures. Listen to your body and get to know your own limits – respect yourself. Keep focusing on the essence of yoga practice: breathing and awareness.

If you feel nauseous, have a headache or other complaints after yoga, it can be due to a variety of factors. Yoga postures or asanas stimulate many systems of the body, and elicit many processes, as for example, the elimination of toxins. When these toxins circulate through the body, you may experience physical effects. Other causes for feeling uncomfortable may be mental. Speak with the teacher for advice and guidance. It’s not abnormal to be emotional during or after yoga (sorrow, joy, anger, bliss, etc.). Observe arising and passing emotions and… breathe!

Scheveningen beach is an outdoor yoga location in Den Haag. The beach yoga will be held just in front of the beach bar Bonoonoonoos.  At the end of the Keizerstraat, on top of the boulevard, you will see statue of the Vissersvrouwtje. From there you can simply keep on walking straight right upon the beach.
