Astanga Yoga Intermediate Series : Refining the practice

Established in your Primary Series Astanga practice? Intermediate Series, also called Nadi Shodhana, meaning 'the cleansing of the nervous system', opens us to the energetic dimension of Astanga Yoga. With deeper backbends, twisting, hip opening and balancing postures, Intermediate Series builds upon the foundation of Primary Series and it is designed to strengthen the entire body, spine and nervous system – ultimately allowing the energy to flow continuously and uninterruptedly.   

During this workshop, we will deepen and refine the practice of the second Series of Astanga Yoga and look at each asana individually, focusing on the proper vinyasas and transitions, together with the hands-on adjustments which can be used to help each other in these poses.   

Suitable for teachers and dedicated students who have a regular and consistent practice and already work with Intermediate Series postures.

Each morning will start with a mysore practice where you will be helped in refining your practice of Second Series. Be prepared to build 2nd Series postures on top of your full Primary Series (2-2,5 hours practice). You will be helped in the postures and advised on suitable options as needed. You will also be helped with dropbacks and handstands.   

Afternoon sessions will be dedicated to the in-depth exploration of each asana, including correct vinyasas and hands-on adjustments. You will receive extensively adjustments in your own practice and you will practice adjustments on each other.   

Depending on the level of group, we will be able to explore details of the Intermediate Series up to Pincha Mayurasana/Nakrasana.


This workshop is not suitable for beginners. To join this workshop we ask you to have at least 2 years of regular Astanga Yoga practice, to have completed Primary Series, to come up from Urdhva Dhanurasana unassisted (aka drop backs) and to be working already with Intermediate Series poses up to Kapotasana in your regular practice.
