Ayurveda, a Sanskrit word that means “the science of life and longevity”. It is the art of daily living in harmony with the laws of nature and the oldest healing system in the world; a profound science of living that encompasses the whole of life and relates the life of the individual to the life of the universe. It is a holistic system of healing in the truest sense.

Body, mind and consciousness are in constant interaction and relationship with other people and environment. In working to create health, Ayurveda takes into consideration these different levels of life and their interconnectedness.

At Delight Yoga you can enjoy three different Ayurvedic massages:

Abhyangam

Whole body massage

The word Abhyangam means “everywhere”. Abhyangam can increase the production of white blood corpuscles and antibodies, which provide more resistance against viruses and diseases. 

This helps the defence mechanism in the body and increases immunity towards environmental changes. In this way Abhyangam massage is a protector, preserver and a rejuvenator, increasing self-confidence and will power, so it can be used therapeutically. Special herb infused Ayurvedic oils are slowly warmed up and gently massaged into the skin. The massage is deeply relaxing, harmonizing, detoxifying, strengthening and revitalizing for the entire body.

Benefits of this massage are pain relief, improves circulation, stress relief, reduces blood pressure, better sleep, improves flexibility, strengthens the immune system, emotional benefits, improved body awareness.

Ayurveda-yogin abhyangam

Ayurvedic Yoga massage is a unique style of bodywork that combines deep tissue massage with breath work and Yoga stretching. The deep tissue massage soothes and nourishes the musculature, soft tissues of the body, releases tensions and prepares the receiver for assisted Yoga stretching. Through synchronized breathwork the receiver is led progressively deeper into assisted Yoga postures that help correct postural imbalance and restore harmony to the body. 

Herbal oils are utilized during the treatment for their healing properties. This comprehensive approach to the body dissolves physical and emotional blocks, helps eliminate toxins, promotes correct posture, improves respiratory patterns, enhances energy level and leaves you with a profound sense of wellbeing.

Garbhayangam

Ayurvedic whole body massage for pregnant women

This massage offers a safe and relaxing way to relieve some of pregnancy’s discomforts. 
Nurture both yourself and your baby from the first trimester through to post-partum recovery. Specialized massage and subtle energy techniques provide a balance of the body, mind, and spirit. 

Your Ayurvedic pregnancy massage soothes the common aches and pains of pregnancy by increasing circulation in the most affected areas such as feet, legs, and back. It also improves comfort by reducing general water retention and swelling. This massage focuses on increasing circulation of the extremities as well as addressing upper and lower back issues. 

During pregnancy your muscles are constantly flexing to balance your ever-changing centre of gravity, and massage can help your body adjust to your new state beautifully. All the aches and pains that accompany the joy of pregnancy can be eased or alleviated with quality bodywork throughout your pregnancy. Pindasweda

Whole body massage using hot herbal pack bandles.
 
This warm embracing pleasant and sensorial massage therapy works with over 70 unique and healing herbs, reactivating body and elimanting stress in just one session. These heated natural herbal packs provide a pleasant warm sensation in the body and deeply penetrate into the muscles, reduce pain in joints, treat insomnia, eliminate stress and tiredness marks gives long-lasting relief.

Midiabhyangam

Whole body massage performed with the feet.

This Ayurveda massage relieves the body from aches and muscular pains and provides physical relaxation and rejuvenation. It is given to increase a person's body flexibility and physical endurance, is particularly efficacious for those who practice very dynamic yoga styles, martial arts and dance forms. It gives flexibility and suppleness to the body. This form of massage is combined with different yoga postures.

Udgarshana

Whole body massage using oil and herbal powders. 

Treatment to remove impurities from the skin and give new life and elasticity to tissues. It is done with special herbal powders applied on the whole body and then rubbed on the body to remove dead skin cells. It is a very effective treatment to remove excess of fat and stagnation.

Canceling your appointment can be done without charge up to 24 hours before the start of the appointment. You will be charged in full if canceled within 24 hours. Please be on time, we have to cancel the appointment if you are more than 10 minutes late since we can't guarantee the quality and benefits of the treatments anymore.

Amanda Dries

Ayurveda

Amanda is from Wales in the UK. She worked for many years in sales, then as a purser for two main airlines, experiencing different cultures. After meeting her Dutch husband she moved to Holland and had three children. Over the last 14 years, she has taken on various studies for health. From 2010-2015 she studied at the Academy of Ayurvedic Studies to become an Ayurvedic practitioner.

Victoria (Tory) Hyndman
