The Magic of Breath

with Eva Ugolini

The Magic of Breath This Yoga Retreat will give you the opportunity to safely enter the sacred space of your Yoga practice if you are taking the first steps in your path, and to deepen your practice if you are already a regular practitioner.

Eva will help you connect with your True Self and your own source of stillness, joy and creativity through the powerful tool of breathing. In the morning sessions you will start your day with the dynamic and transformative practice of Ashtanga Yoga, taught both in led classes and Mysore style, and you will soften through a gentle Yoga practice, Pranayama and Meditation in the afternoon sessions, finding a space within your body and mind where to surrender, explore and observe.

The daily Yoga practice, the organic healthy food, the free time in between morning and afternoon sessions to spend in the beautiful nature of north of Italy, will awaken your senses, your intuition and your inner source of vitality and happiness. Eva will be happy to make of your Yoga retreat an experience you can bring back home as a tool for your daily life.

Location: Mandali Retreat Center

This retreat is hosted at the Mandali Retreat Center. Mandali is a peaceful retreat centre, established on a mountaintop, overlooking lago d’Orta in Italy. It is an open space dedicated to spiritual practice and personal transformation. Mandali provides an optimal environment to exchange and receive teachings, wisdom and guidance from some of the world’s most inspiring teachers.
The location is a result of an extended search. When the founders saw the view from the mountain top, it accelerated their hearts. They realised they had found the perfect place. Building this place is their dream and heartfelt intention; to create a place of quiet beauty, to learn and to relax.
They builded this place from scratch, you can have a look at the making off video here (very impressive!). It's architecture is a faithful reflection of the ancient villages by which it is surrounded. The centre breathes a soothing, serene atmosphere and offers its guests a guiding hand. You will fall in love with nature, find balance in the elements and feel harmony with your true self.

"We believe that to spend time in retreat is a necessity for anyone interested in a balanced way of living. We look forward to welcoming you at Mandali." - The Mandali team

Mandali is set 850 meters above sea level, overlooking lago d’ Orta in Italy, the site faces southeast, enjoying the morning sun rising over the Mottarone mountain range across the lake. The classic feng shui dream of enjoying the inspiration of the sun, lake, and valley in front of you, whilst being supported and protected by the buildings, trees, and gardens behind is a functioning reality at Mandali. About Eva Ugolini

Eva’s passion for Yoga and Ayurveda started almost 15 years ago whilst taking a course in Ayurveda-Yoga massage in Rome, her hometown.
After experimenting with traditional Hatha Yoga and Pranayama, she went to Southern India on a few trips to deepen her yoga practice and Ayurvedic studies. Once back in Rome, she completed a two year Master in Ayurveda Massage at the Atharva Veda Center, in cooperation with the Center for Study and Research of Naturopathy and Ayurveda of New Delhi, India.

Here she met Denis Sciannimanica, who introduced her to Astanga Yoga. It was love at first sight and since then Astanga Yoga is part of her daily life, a tool for self-development and a mirror through which she can honestly look at herself every day.
This unique yoga style has changed her life and transformed her way of seeing things so greatly that she naturally felt it was time to give space to a new fresh start.

It was then in 2009, that she moved to Amsterdam and started working with Ayurveda in massage centers and yoga schools.
As she continued to deepen her yoga practice at Astanga Yoga School Amsterdam, she decided to join the 200hrs Astanga Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training given by Claudia Pradella and Janneke Verburg. This very important step in her yoga journey changed profoundly her way of living and her practice which she started to integrate into her daily life both as a student and a teacher.
In that period she had the opportunity and honor of practicing with great Astanga Yoga teachers such as Eddie Stern, Petri Raisanen and Govinda Kai. This has consolidated her passion and dedication for this unique yoga style as a life tool for self-development.
In 2011 she met David Swenson who had a great impact on her way of connecting to the practice and embracing it on a deeper level. Both his presence and his teaching slowly but surely unfolded a new way of sharing her love and dedication with her students for this unique yoga practice.

In one of her trips back home to Rome, she met Lino Miele. This was for Eva a very meaningful moment as she right away realized that, through him, she could touch the source of the practice the way it has been taught by Guruji for his entire life.  Lino had greatly influenced her practice and teaching particularly in the areas of breath awareness, inner alignment and devotion. Since then she follows him every year as her main teacher to study and deepen her practice with.
She very happily teaches Astanga Yoga, as a way to share her love, joy and dedication to this powerful practice, which can enrich our lives with extraordinary vitality and creativity on all levels.
