Astanga Yoga: Exploring Bandhas and Breath
With Gibran Gonzalez
10 December 2016 See all dates
Ever wondered what the elusive "bandhas" used in the Astanga Vinyasa Yoga really are? Join this workshop with Gibran to explore your breath and bandhas in practice!
During this workshop, we will first take a broad perspective of what the purpose of yoga asana is and how bandhas fit into it. In order to do this, we will start looking at the physical aspects of the bandhas, to then move to the more subtle aspects and experience bandhas as access points to the practice.
We will also explore the breath in depth and discover how breathing relates to creating the energetic fuel for the bandhas during practice. All of this will be employed through practical exercises to have access to direct experience of bandhas and breath in astanga yoga practice.
Beginners are welcome, though students should have some experience with Astanga Yoga.
