Astanga Yoga Primary & Intermediate Series Workshop

With Clayton Horton

This weekend with Clayton will give students an opportunity to fine-tune basic principles of Astanga Yoga while shedding light on how to integrate internal aspects of the practice. The relationship between the glands, chakras, and quality of mind will be discussed in a clear and simple manner.  On Sunday, we will journey into the Astanga Intermediate Series.



Foundation of the Matrix Saturday - 29 August -  9:30 - 12:30

In this morning session, we will study the integration of breath and movement, (how and when to breathe), Drishti (gaze) and bandhas (internal energy locks) via Sun Salutations, Standing Poses, and Finishing poses.

 

The Five Elements of Astanga Yoga - Saturday 29 August 14:00 - 17:00

After a short talk on basic yoga philosophy, the first half of the Primary Series will be broken down in detail.
 Mysteries of the “jump back” and “jump through” will be revealed in a grounded and practical manner.
 


Internal Sunrise  - Sunday 30 August 9:30 - 12:30

We will begin this session with a morning meditation and breathwork. Our focus will be on the second half of the Primary Series and Backbending.

 


The Triad of Chakras, Glands and Mind  -  Sunday 30 August 14:00 - 17:00

After discussing internal aspects of the practice, we will dive into the Intermediate / Second Series of Astanga Yoga. The session will end with a short Kirtan and question and answer period.

About Clayton Horton

Clayton is an experienced and internationally known certified Ashtanga yoga teacher. He was born in Oklahoma, USA in 1965. He discovered yoga while living in San Francisco, California, when his mother took him to a pranayama class at age 21.
