Ayurvedic Nutrition Course I (English)

This Ayurvedic nutrition course is for those who want to know what Ayurvedic nutrition can mean for them in a modern western life. Going deeply into the basics of classical ayurvedic nutrition, this course translates this ancient knowledge into whatever is needed here and now in the west.


This is a unique feature of this course: modern nutrition has gone haywire and presents a lot of difficult issues. Many of these issues will be addressed in this course from a modern ayurvedic perspective. The purpose of this course is to offer an in depth training in Ayurvedic nutrition.


This course has originally been developed by Atreya Smith to train practitioners according to the Medical Association of Switzerland where he taught clinical ayurvedic nutrition to doctors and other medical practitioners. Hence, the orientation of this course is also to actually train professionals to use and become proficient in traditional nutritional medicine.


The course combines classroom hours with self study at home, and 2 hands-on training days in a cooking studio (Peterpan in Amsterdam) where you will experiment with Ayurvedic cooking.


We are very honoured to offer this certification course which was part of the Academy of Ayurvedic Studies of Coen van der Kroon, and had now been integrated into Delight Academy, as Yoga & Ayurveda are complementary sciences - often referred to as sister sciences.

READING MATERIAL:

Two textbooks to be purchased:
Dr Vasant Lad - Textbook Ayurveda Volume 1
Robert Svoboda - Prakriti
Course book Atreya Smith will be handed out during first class.


REQUIREMENTS: 

No previous experience with Ayurveda is required to join this course.
This course includes a total of 60 contact hours, plus 120 hours of self study spread throughout the duration of the course.
There are five written exams and one written case study required by the student.


EXAMINATION: 

Participants will be asked to complete 5 (take home) written exams, a class presentation, and a case study report.


CERTIFICATION: 

On completion a diploma of 180 study hours (60 contact hours) in Ayurvedic Clinical Studies will be awarded as ‘Ayurvedic Nutritional Advisor’.


If this is your initial course in this or in the Ayurveda field we advise you to continue with more studies before actually starting professional advices. In this case the course does suffice - however - to give advice to friends and family.

About Liese van Dam

Liese originally trained as a hatha yoga teacher in India. She intensely practiced and taught all aspects of yoga – including pranayama, philosophy and chanting - for several years in various countries across the globe before settling back in The Netherlands.
