Introduction to Inversions Workshop
27 June 2019 Go to schedule
A step by step workshop to start exploring handstand, headstand and forearm stand.
Adela will lead you through a playful sequence full of the necessary actions that you need to understand to bring your body upside down!
This workshop will be a time to explore and play around with inversions and alternative poses that you can practice safely at home to create a foundation in your practice that allows you to work in your own time to overcome the "fear" of going upside down.
When taught clearly, with simple instructions and effective demonstrations, what may have once felt impossible, will be accessible, joyful and fun. This workshop will focus on handstands, forearm stand and headstand. Students will leave with a clear understanding of what commonalities exist in all inversions and the risk factors that need to addressed. We will explore the component parts (parts of the body that need to be prepared and/or educated) to successfully practice going upside down. The poses that once made you feel fear and dread can actually create excitement and anticipation.
In this workshop you will:
- Gain an understanding and confidence of poses that may have seemed inaccessible
- Learn modifications and explore what parts of the body need to open and what parts need to be strengthened to work toward balancing
- Learn how to be upside down without fear
Although this workshop is especially designed for beginners, more experienced students may benefit from it as well. All levels are welcome.
