Motherheart Circle: Baby Blessing Ceremony - Online

With Alixe van Ogtrop

This workshop has taken place already, please visit our Workshop Page for a more recent offering of workshops and trainings.

The ancient wisdom traditions have honoured the cycles for decades. The cycles of the moon, the seasons and the cycles of (re)birth and death. Within the cycle of (re)birth and death, we have been celebrating the rites of passages eons of time. A rite of passage means we are stepping from one role into a new one.

One of the biggest rites of passages is birth. As we feel it is time to bring these celebrations into the new, we are offering the first rite of passage of your little one by holding a Baby blessing ceremony. When we bring new life to earth it is a beautiful moment to spend time, honour and welcome this new being onto our earth plane. During this ceremony, you will be guided through ancient wisdom traditions by working with nature’s elements. We will use the elements to bless the baby, to cleanse, to ground and to warm the baby. With ritual and song the mother and father will be guided in this baby blessing ceremony to support the little ones to start walking their path.

What can you expect

  • We will land into a safe and sacred space by having a ceremonial opening
  • You will have a moment to acknowledge the wonder and to celebrate and bless your little
  • one
  • You will create a unique, special and deep bond with your little one
  • You will support your little one to walk their own path
  • You will be guided to work with the elements; water, fire, earth & wind
  • There will be time to connect with other parents

Practical information

As this ceremony has a focus on babies and inviting them to “be” here on earth we would like to invite all mothers and/or fathers with children under the age of 1,5 years old to participate. Siblings are very much welcome to join too. Since we have decided to let this ceremony take place online you’ll need a few things in order to prepare:

  • A bowl of water
  • A steady thick candle
  • A little hand of earth (any kind of earth: earth from your garden, a flower pot, from a park or a
  • little corner on the street)
  • Something that smokes like: Paolo Santo, sage or incense

In motherhood, in life, in ceremony with babies, we are invited to be with the unexpected, to drop expectations and be okay with what is. All is welcome. This a time where we don’t have to be self-conscious about our babies, the noises they make or how they act, all is welcome, the messy and the beautiful. That is the message we want to show the future generation - be your authentic self.

Let's build the new future together, let’s celebrate the new generation together, let's honour that little bundle of joy that just came into our lives.
