How to See and Adjust like a Rolfer
with Ken the Rolfer
We are very happy to offer a couple of hands-on workshops with Ken The Rolfer this year, he's a long term astanga practitioner and level 2 KPJAYI authorized teacher, and a seasoned Rolfing® instructor - a unique combination which makes Ken's teachings extremely interesting and useful for any yoga practitioner.
This is a Deep Tissue massage workshop for all steady yoga practitioners. It focusses on what is structurally important for any Hatha Yoga practice. Whether massaging someone for the first time or refining a therapeutic Yin practice for yourself, this workshop will give you the tools to safely and effectively begin building or significantly refine your knowledge and touch in this common therapeutic method. And, this work will be directly applied to adjusting Yoga Asana, specifically the basic sequences of the Astanga Vinyasa system.
- the discrete anatomy of the Shoulders, Hips, Spine, Neck and Limbs as we use them in Asana practice
- how to evaluate posture and identify specifically what is tight causing the misalignment in the body
- how to apply effective pressure to this anatomy and release it in a therapeutic massage position
- how to do this in Asana adjustments
Whether working inside your self or with yoga students in class, your practice or your teaching will never be the same after this workshop!
A must for Astanga practitioners, this weekend workshop is suitable for all dedicated students of any vinyasa based asana system (min 6 months of yoga experience recommended). There is no formal yoga practice during the workshop, but you will get to practice asanas and adjustments to directly experience your structural anatomy in movement!
