This workshop has taken place already, please visit our Workshop Page for a more recent offering of workshops and trainings.

We love seeing yoga being recommended by healthcare professionals during pregnancy. This is why you most probably had expectant moms as students in your classes too! As yoga teachers we need to know how to address pregnancy in the contexts of yoga. We should know how to support these ladies on their journey to motherhood.

The transition from Maiden to Mother is a very special Rite of Passage, one of the greatest thresholds that a woman will cross in her life. In this 2-days training you will learn the basics of how to facilitate this journey using the tools of yoga, pranayama and meditation.

We will cover the theory and practice of :

  • Physiological & emotional changes and challenges during pregnancy
  • Contraindications for yoga practice during pregnancy
  • Modifications and adaptations for most traditional poses
  • Common issues and how to address them (diastasis recti, symphysis pubis dysfunction, pelvic instability, back pain etc.)
  • Sequencing prenatal-friendly classes and its key elements (breathwork, visualisations, positive affirmations, meditation, endurance poses etc.)

This training is an introduction to the broader subject of pregnancy yoga and it is designed to offer yoga teachers tools to better integrate their students in classes, when they become pregnant. It is also a great tool for yoga practitioners who are currently pregnant (or are planning to) to receive hands-on information on how to safely continue their practice during this very special time.

This course offers 14 hours of continuing education credit (YACEP for Yoga Alliance registered teachers).
