Yoga & Mindfulness (50 Hours) - Online
With Kristin Vikjord Paternotte
Starting on 07 May 2021 Go to schedule
The integration of Yoga and Mindfulness takes us beyond the realm of asana and physical practice. We invite ourselves to an attitude of awareness, where kindness, compassion and curiosity are practised for us to open the gateway to be in the moment, to freedom.
This online training is for yoga practitioners wishing to integrate the principles of mindfulness into their own practice, and for yoga teachers wishing to enrich their way of teaching. Through classical mindfulness practices as well as moving meditation, you will learn to practice self-inquiry to touch base with how you embody yourself in this particular moment of life.
What you will learn:
You will learn the four ennobling truths, about the dance between ease (Sukha) and unease (Dukkha), the four foundations of mindfulness, and the eightfold path to sustain a skilful living. In addition to learning classical mindfulness practices like various mindfulness meditations, body scan, and 5-minute breathing space, you will learn how to practice and teach mindfulness as part of asana practice, as moving meditation. You'll also learn how to teach mindfulness as a yoga teacher in your yoga classes.
In this program, the focus will be on experiencing and learning the tools offered by insight tradition, mindfulness and compassion-based practices, synergized in yoga practice, and how to apply them as skilful means in your everyday life.
Topics we will cover:
- Theory of Insight Tradition: The four noble truths, the four foundations of mindfulness, Buddha's eightfold path to end suffering
- Mindfulness practices as skilful means
- The integration of mindfulness in asana – Moving Meditation
- Teaching methodology – How to teach Mindful Yoga
Online Format
The Yoga & Mindfulness training is offered as a nurturing home-based training. You'll be able to participate in this 50-hour training with access to all the material for an additional 6 months.
The daily schedule for the training will include live online sessions with a core time of 3 hours. All formal practices will be offered as recordings (video, audio, lectures) for you to access in your own time/rhythm - for example, early mornings - on the training days. We advise you to treat the training weekends as mini-retreats, i.e. keeping the days as free as possible, so you can fully integrate the teachings.
You'll be partnered with a dharma buddy (a colleague/student) for reflection work as well as teaching practicum throughout the training days.
Typical daily schedule (subject to change):
- 09.00 - 10.00 hrs: Recorded practice (meditation, breathwork, asana)
- 10.00 - 12.45 hrs: Log-in time live: sessions of 45 mins x 3, with 15 mins break
- 13.00 - 14.30 hrs: Lunch break
- 14.30 - 15.15 hrs: Work with dharma buddy or individual reflection assignment
- 15.30 - 16.30 hrs: Teaching practicum
- 16.30 - 17.00 hrs: Recorded practice (meditation, breathwork, asana)
In addition, there will be assignments + journaling.
Kristin looks very much forward to facilitating you in deepening mindfulness, yoga and compassion-based practices and theory. By the end of this training, you'll be confident in integrating these practices in your own practice and teaching.
Requirements
This training is designed for yoga practitioners as well as yoga teachers. Participants need to have at least two years of regular yoga practice (including pranayama and meditation), or to have attended a silent retreat (minimum of ten days or more), or to have completed an MBSR-course or similar.
These 50 hours are part of the Delight Academy Advanced Teacher Training, however, this training is not in itself a teacher training program.
Yogi Facilitator Training
This 50-hour training is part of Level 1 of the Yogi Facilitator training by Kristin, which is open to individual yoga practitioners and yoga teachers. The (fully offered online) Yogi Facilitator Training merges contemporary clinical knowledge of mental and emotional health and practices with the wisdom traditions of yoga and dharma teachings.
It juxtaposes the mindfulness practices from the dharma path seamlessly with the most updated empirical knowledge from applied psychology. We all know Buddha was the first cognitive therapist, however, here you will get to experience the connecting of the dots in its fullness. All workshops and modules of the Yogi Facilitator training can be followed on a stand-alone basis. If you are (becoming) a yoga teacher, we recommend also exploring the other parts of this fully online program.
