We are very honoured and happy to have Vidwan Lakshmisha Bhat from Mysore visiting Delight Yoga for the first time.
Vidwan Lakshmisha will be in Amsterdam for two days and in The Hague for two days, offering a Puja, lectures on chanting Yoga mantras, the basics of Sanskrit, explanations of the Hatha Yoga Pradipika (one of the main yogic scriptures), give insight into the life of Yoga aspirants and on the background of a Brahmin life.
Lakshmisha Bhat was born in a small village called Madgeri - nearby Gokarna (Shiva's holy place) which lies in the north of Karnataka, India. Being born into a Brahmin family, he studied Sanskrit by the traditional method in his village for 8 years and went to the Mysore Maharaja Sanskrit College for further studies of the Advaita Vedanta. He has obtained the Vidwan title in that subject and subsequently a master’s degree from Mysore University.
This is a unique opportunity to meet and study with a genuine Indian scholar, with an amazing depth of knowledge. Lakshmisha is the Sanskrit, chanting and philosophy teacher at Sharath Yoga Center in Mysore, India. Every year he teaches thousands of students who come to practice with Sharath. Lakshmisha conducts the traditional Brahmin puja rituals in his home every day as well as at the Sharath Yoga Shala for the benefit of the students and family, as part of his work.
On Friday Lakshmisha will open the workshops performing this special puja ritual at Delight Yoga, Nieuwe Achtergracht.
All lectures will include:
- the basics of Sanskrit
- chanting of certain mantras plus understanding their history
- explanation of Hatha Yoga Pradipika and it's meaning in the Yoga tradition
- insights into yogic and Brahmin life
- and clarification of some Yoga principles like Parampara
