Astanga Mysore for beginners taught one-on-one

Astanga yoga is a dynamic form of yoga that consists of a specific series of powerful postures that focuses on increasing strength, flexibility and concentration of the mind. In the Astanga Mysore class, the practice will be taught one-on-one as a self-practice.  

Astanga Mysore Beginners

You will be carefully guided by a teacher through the series step by step and at your own pace. By learning to practice on your own, you have the opportunity to cultivate a regular self-practice. This class is very suited for students who would like to practice on their own pace or want to deepen their Astanga practice. Astanga yoga is a living tradition that has been passed down through a lineage of teachers. Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois began his studies with Krishnamacharya in 1927. Together they formed the Astanga yoga system. Traditionally the method is taught Mysore style; one-on-one as a self-practice.

Self-practice

No experience or prior knowledge of the sequence is required, just some curiosity and a willingness to learn. The sequence does not need to be memorised before you start. On the schedule, Mysore is indicated as self-practice. Please don’t let this hold back your enthusiasm to learn the Astanga method in the traditional way with us. Astanga Mysore is open for everyone and you will be guided at your own pace.

Mysore Program

If you are curious about the tradition and considering to join the Mysore Program, it is encouraged to attend one or two Mysore Beginners classes before you decide to commit to regular practice. In the Mysore Beginners class, the foundation of the practice will be explained and the beginning of the sequence will be taught in a safe and encouraging space.
