Hatha

“In the practice of yoga, one can emphasize the body, the mind or the self and hence the effort can never be fruitless.”

~T. Krishnamacharya

A slow flowing traditional yoga class

Hatha Yoga is a more traditional yoga method that would include Asana, Pranayama, Meditation, Chanting and Mudra. The emphasis in Hatha Yoga is on a holistic practice that balances body, energy and mind. Many aspects of a traditional yoga practice are incorporated in this class.

Hatha

A slow flowing Hatha yoga class emphasizing stability and movement with control, grace and fluidity. We highlight asanas and sequencing that build strength, groundedness, balance and focus. This class will help you stabilize your energy if you are experiencing anxiety or instability. The hatha yoga postures are sequenced to create strength, flexibility, openness, and relaxation throughout the practice. A few of the hatha yoga benefits include physical strength and discipline, improved circulation and flexibility, the steadiness of breathing, clarity of mind, stress-reduction, and relaxation.

Hatha & Pranayama

We also offer Hatha & Pranayama classes. These classes can be quiet and meditative but also physical and challenging at times, with a strong emphasis on breathing. Yogic breathing exercises (Pranayama) are designed to harness the power of Prana to open and clear our energy channels (Nadis) for the purpose of removing the obstacles to higher awareness and to promote physical vitality. Pranayama offers a set of simple breathing techniques which help to cleanse and stabilizing body and mind. With a regular Pranayama practise, more vital energy is made available for the body and mind.

The intensity of the practice can vary widely, but at Delight Yoga, we offer hatha yoga for beginners, as well as more experienced or developed practitioners.
