In this Restorative Yoga class props, like blocks and bolsters, will be used to support you in the postures. This class is great if you are new to yoga, prefer a calmer, more grounding practice or like to work deeply and learn how to use props to help you relax into poses. This class is also suitable if you are healing from an injury, are dealing with stress or burn out or have been travelling a lot.
We will hold the poses for a longer period of time, somewhere in between 5 to 20 minutes. In the poses, we are not aiming to stretch or strengthen the body, but we're looking for effortlessness and relaxation.
Mindfulness & Restorative
This class integrates Restorative Yoga with gentle movement, breathwork, and guided meditation. Restorative postures are supported with props and held for several minutes at a time, which facilitates deep levels of relaxation. In addition to being an effective complement to more active styles of yoga or sports, this style of yoga can be a powerful healing tool for those experiencing acute or chronic injury, illness, or physical/emotional stress. Tools from mindfulness meditation will be emphasized throughout, cultivating present-moment awareness and self-compassion.
A sound bath is a group healing experience that uses sound to induce a meditative state. It’s an almost effortless way to achieve a deeper meditation as the sounds help to facilitate shifts in our brainwaves.
Sahaja Healing Yoga is a series of practices synthesized from Tibetan Yoga, Chinese Qi Gong, Hatha Yoga, Tibetan medicine and Ayurveda. Sahaja is a Sanskrit word meaning "spontaneous and natural", meaning the source of healing is within us as a natural spontaneous expression of connection and balance.
We currently have a worldwide epidemic of stress and anxiety that is stifling our happiness, creativity, and intimacy. Max Strom will reveal his core principles of breathing and movement patterns to alleviate anxiety, PTSD, depression, and sleep disorder based on his two decades of teaching and his in-depth knowledge of Hatha Yoga and Qi Gong.
