How experienced do I need to be to join your trainings?
That totally depends on which training you want to follow. For the Basic Teacher Training, at least one year of regular practice is recommended. If you wish to join the Advanced Teacher Training (300 hours), you should have already completed a 200-hours teacher training (not necessarily with Delight Yoga), but you can also follow only some elements individually. Our retreats and 50-hour teacher trainings are open to both dedicated yoga practitioners and yoga teachers; each training will state clearly what the specific requirements are.
When can I start?
The Basic Teacher Training takes place once a year from May - August The Advanced Teacher Training you can join anytime with whatever module or retreat you want to start with, although we recommend to finish it with The Mind retreat.
How do I prepare for your trainings?
Any recommended preparation for each training is mentioned under the specific course. Please also make sure to read through the section ‘Why a Teacher Training’.
Will I be able to teach after the Basic Teacher Training?
That depends on yourself. In principle yes, you will be provided with the necessary teaching skills to teach a basic yoga class for beginners. From our point of view, you can awaken the teacher inside yourself by sharing honestly from your own experience. You can only teach where you are at yourself, what you have fully integrated into your own regular practice. Sometimes even experienced students, realising the vastness of the ocean of yoga while following one of our trainings, decide to continue their own practice and training further before actually starting to teach. Other practitioners start teaching even before they have any formal 200-hours training.
I want to follow a training just for myself and not necessarily become a yoga teacher. Can I join your programs also?
Yes, definitely. Actually, our training programs can be considered as 'live trainings' or 'yogic' trainings, so not only about learning how to teach yoga. Our programs are mainly about deepening your own yogic process and development, about establishing a steady practice that supports your lifestyle. From there, you can share authentically if you wish. Of course, you do get the skills to do so by following our programs. But this is really only a part of what you will take with you.
What is the retreat location for the Basic and the Advanced Teacher Training?
The first two weeks of the Basic Teacher Training, as well as The Heart Retreat and The Mind Retreat which are part of the Advanced Studies, take place at D'Alijo Yoga Retreats Center in Portugal (1 hour from Porto). D’Alijo Yoga Retreats Center is a yoga retreat in the midst of beautiful Portuguese nature. It sprawls across three hectares of land consisting of terraces, olive field and hills with large rock formations. The accommodation consists of wooden chalet style houses, cabins or rooms which are tastefully decorated, positioned in rural parts of the grounds at walking distance from Yoga Studio, swimming pool and the main house. All rooms have outside verandas. The main house which is rebuilt with huge granite rocks from centuries ago is now the cozy “heart” of the retreat centre. Surrounded by large terraces and undisturbed views of the area and premises. The center offers a heated swimming pool, water features, and a peaceful meditation cave and the surroundings invite to tranquil walks.
I have a special diet. Can the retreat center accommodate my dietary needs?
Yes, our retreat centers are selected with utmost care and they are able to accommodate a large number of dietary needs. All food is vegetarian. In case of (severe) allergies, please make sure to inform us in time so we can discuss the possibilities in advance with the retreat locations.
What do I need to bring to the training?
One week in advance of the training or retreat, you will receive specific information on what to bring. Yoga mats and props are always available on location.
Are your trainings certified by Yoga Alliance?
Yes, the Basic Teacher Training is certified by Yoga Alliance, so after completing it you can register as 'Registered Yoga Teacher 200' (RYT200)
The Advanced Teacher Training is certified by Yoga Alliance, so after completing it you can register as 'Registered Yoga Teacher 500', assuming you have also followed a certified 200-hours training before (RYT500). Some of our 50-hour/100-hour programs count as YACEP points (Continuing Education Points) for yoga teachers. You can find this information in the respective program descriptions. However we believe that while an accreditation is important for many, the own experience is at least as important as the certification.
