The Basic Teacher Training is an intensive training for everyone who wants to become a yoga teacher or go deeper into their own yoga practice.
In 3 intensive weeks of training in Portugal and Amsterdam, we will offer you an all round program based on Ashtanga, Vinyasa and Hatha yoga practices.
This is a unique and transformative training program, with fully accredited and inspiring teachers, registered with Yoga Alliance as a 200-hours teacher training.
The first week we set the intention and mood of the training, diving slowly but steadily, starting to tune in to our body, breath and mind. Becoming friends and intimately connecting with ourselves and the teachings, the method and techniques, learning their language. Starting to trust the intelligence of our body and energetic field, letting go of what is in the way. Becoming lighter and open.
We start in a unique way - with mauna (silence). It is a way to go beyond the surface – beyond names and forms, social, cultural or psychological boundaries. You will receive teachings and practices silently, allowing yourself to let go of critical thinking, questions and other habits of the mind.
The Yoga program during this week will include different cleansing techniques (kriyas), and self-practice Asana, pranayamas, guided and silent meditation, philosophy sessions and a special diet (pure, healthy and detoxing vegetarian food).
Knowledge is a fruit of learning, while wisdom is a fruit of practice. After the period of silence, your mind will reach a certain clarity, and you will be ready for deeper learning and practice. Your immersion into meditation, pranayama, philosophy and a balanced asana practice, as well as time for practicing in groups, learning Yoga methodology and secrets of good teaching will inspire you toward your own creativity, wisdom and awareness. During this week you will also dive into the science of Ayurveda and its close relationship to yoga and yogic lifestyle.
This final week is all about going deeper with the knowledge and experience gained and developing intuition about teaching. You will be learning and teaching, refining what you have learned up to this point, and practicing until it is sealed. Creative and dynamic asana, practical yoga philosophy, sound and mantras, therapeutic yoga and synthesis of all are the key subjects of the last and final week.

Kevin Sahaj is a dedicated yoga practitioner who has been studying and practicing yoga for 30 years. His approach to teaching is eclectic and draws from many different methods and teachings to help students align their lives towards awakening. His focus is to offer the right method for the individual according to their needs and aspirations. He is the life partner of Katiza Satya and together they are leading the Delight Yoga Teacher training and offering guidance in the spiritual direction of the school. At a young age Kevin Sahaj was a martial artist. He then had a spontaneous awakening experience from which an urgency to search for the truth was born. His first meditation teacher was SN Goenka in the Vipassana Buddhist tradition. From this ground he studied Mahayana Buddhism with Lama Zopa Rinpoche in Nepal, Vipassana meditation in Thailand with Ajahn Buddhadasa, Zen Buddhism with Japanese Zen master Hogen, in the Hatha yoga tradition. Over a period of 8 years he studied with K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India. Other significant yoga teachers that he has learned directly from were: TKV Desikachar, Mark Whitwell, Shandor Remete, Dena Kingsburg, Graham Northfield and many other dedicated yogis and healers. Now his main teachers are: the late Tibetan Dzogchen Master Namkhai Norbu, Tibetan Bon Dzogchen with Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche, Vajrayana tantric buddhism with Lama Tsultrim Allione and Tulku Sang nang Rinpoche and Tibetan Yantra Yoga with Fabio Andrico. ![Kevin Sahaj](https://d2r95z4j5cc9cx.cloudfront.net/user/Kevin.jpeg)
Adela, originally from Spain, has lived in different cities since 2000. Her Yoga journey started in New York while she was facing a major change in her life; motherhood. Practicing Yoga helped her to feel more at home with herself and her changing circumstances. She felt inspired to teach thanks to one of her first teachers in New York, Jenny Aurthur who as she says: "Literally pulled out the best of me and helped me in my journey." Maty Ezraty and Carrie Owerko were great sources of inspiration in her New York years. Once in Amsterdam, she became a certified Iyengar teacher with the help of Barbara Queirolo, Kristien Van Reusel and Rembert Petrus. On top of that, she likes to call her life, her family, relationships and her students her true teachers. Her classes follow the Iyengar tradition with a safe, compassionate and skilful approach. Extensive anatomy knowledge makes her teaching style very safe but also challenging for all levels. According to the old Yoga teachings, her classes bring attention to the poses and movements/actions as a way to access a more refined body and mind awareness. She also specializes in injury prevention and injury recovery. "I like to demystify complex concepts to make the practice of Yoga applicable to everyday life, I am a devoted student and practitioner and I bring my all in every class I teach. I have been honoured to be able to teach at Delight yoga almost since they started, and you can find me in their studios for classes and workshops in Amsterdam and in Den Haag." "It is through your body that you realize you are a spark of divinity". B.K.S. Iyengar ![Adela](https://d2r95z4j5cc9cx.cloudfront.net/user/Adela.jpeg)
