Carmen was born in The Netherlands in a multicultural family. Due to her upbringing and nomadic life from a young age, she understands like no other what it means to have an open mind, be empathetic and understanding of people regardless of age, nationality or gender. After living in Milan for five years she returned to Amsterdam to study international fashion branding. Right after graduation she ended up back in Milan working as part of the merchandising team of a large Italian luxury brand. It was during this time in Milan, working long hours and with little social life, that Yoga became her mainstay. “It was like my heart opened up to the heavens and I experienced a sense of connection that I had never experienced before, I knew then I wanted to pay the wisdom of yoga forward”.
Yoga brought her back to India, where she had lived before, in 2016 where she studied Hatha, Vinyasa and Yin with Trimurti Yoga in Goa. She is a firm believer that everyone has their own path to follow and she finds it of the essence that people embark on a journey of self-discovery and therein stay true to their authenticity.
Carmen encourages students to establish a deep connection with their breath and opening up to the subtle sensations in each movement in order to explore what lies beneath the surface while always maintaining a smile and an open mind. She teaches very dynamic and creative Vinyasa classes and nurturing and introspective Yin. Within these classes, she brings a diverse range of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual knowledge to each class in a grounding yet light-hearted and fun manner.
“Yoga is not about touching your toes, it is about what you learn on the way down”.
