Jeanine first started practicing Ashtanga yoga in Suriname in 2005. Although she still loves her Ashtanga practice she ventured out and discovered her softer side with Yin Yoga in 2012 and now feels that the twostyles are a perfect mix to bring balance to her life. She moved to The Netherlands in 2016 and has been teaching yoga here since.
After her first teacher training in Hatha Yoga she completed several other trainings (Yin, Ashtanga, Mindfulness, Yoga Nidra, Aerial Yoga and Slow Flow Yoga) with inspiring teachers such as David Swenson, Kino MacGregor, Skadi van Paasschen, Hilary Brown and James Reeves. Due to this varied background she now teaches a wide variety of yoga styles. And although she does not work as a mindfulness trainer, you will find that snippets of mindfulness are sprinkled throughout her yoga teachings.
If she could pick only one person that truly influenced her life it would American Buddhist Pema Chödrön.
From Pema’s teachings she learned to be kinder to herself; to look at herself honestly but gently and befriend who she already was.
She came to teaching because she loves sharing the yoga that has so enriched her own life with others. With kindness and compassion at the heart of her teachings she truly believes that yoga is for everyone. Lastly, she feels that playfulness and laughter keep us young and this is reflected in her light-hearted teaching style.
"Be kinder to yourself and then let your kindness flood the world." – Pema Chödrön
