Vera has a background in physical education, sports and theatre. She attended her first Yoga class in 2002 while studying to become an all-round theatre performer in Amsterdam. Yoga was one of several ways to keep her performer's body in shape, but after an on-stage injury, Yoga also became the way she explored her new physical state. Changes quickly started to show on levels beyond the physical.
Her new practice revealed patterns that no longer were constructive. Confronting as it was, sticking with Yoga brought freedom and compassion. It strengthened her ability to accept distractions for what they were and taught her to smile at being a clumsy, imperfect, perfect human being.
Having been a teacher for years, the logical next step was to combine her love for Yoga with that other old flame: teaching. In 2015 Vera completed a Hatha Yoga teacher training with Dev Kapil and a Bikram-style training at Forty Degrees in Amsterdam. The Tapasya Hot Series by Kristin Campbell followed in 2016 (Yoga Moves). In 2018, she completed her Yin and Restorative training with Skadi van Paasschen and Alison Melvin (DNYS). In early 2020 she completed level 1 Relax and Restore with Adelene Cheong, whose approach to Restorative Yoga greatly inspires her. Other teachers whose work she loves are Max Strom, Sarah Powers and Doug Keller.
Join her classes to practice being perfectly imperfect, and to have a sense of humour about it!
