Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga combines aspects of Hatha Yoga, the concept of the meridians in Chinese medicine, Taoist philosophy and Buddhist meditation techniques. By holding the postures in a seated or lying position for 3 - 5 minutes, it directs the stimulation deeper into connective tissues, such as ligaments, bones, and the joints of the body. When practised regularly, Yin Yoga increases the flexibility, circulation, and range of motion in the joints and ligaments. In the class, you will find yourself relaxing from ‘the perfection’ of the world and enjoying the presence ‘as it is being mindful of your current state.
Mindfulness & Yin
Learn how to develop an unconditional friendship with your body and mind by practising mindfulness and awareness in your yoga and meditation practice. How can we use our life as a path of awakening? By relaxing the struggle for perfection and meeting ourselves and our world ‘as it is’. We all have natural wakefulness and inherent goodness that we can uncover.
Yin Yang
When combined with a more active and physical sequence, the practice is then known as Yin Yang yoga. This class consists of 50% calm poses and 50% active poses. Traditionally, yin and yang are thought of as complementary, not opposite. Thus, balancing the active and relaxing components of your practice can be a good way to create balance and harmony.
Yin Experienced
In this class, we aim to create an oasis of stillness. You will have the opportunity to enjoy a Yin Yoga practice with minimal use of music and words. The class will be guided with simple instructions for the poses, so you can dive deeper into your own practice, listening to what's going on inside of you without external distractions. Participating in the Yin Experienced class requires previous knowledge of the principal Yin Yoga postures - for those who have experience with Yin Yoga and would like to deepen their practice.
